Jeremiah Lwebuga,
DFS and Value Chains Consultant

Jeremiah Lwebuga is a digital financial services and value chains specialist passionate about amplifying the rich efficiency of inclusive digital solutions. He brings over 10 years of experience focused on digital commercial leadership and enabling organizations to offer access to a broad range of inclusive digital financial products and services to millions of underbanked customers in East Africa. His particular interest is leveraging inclusive digital technology to improve livelihoods, competitiveness and productivity of the unbanked and underserved population in emerging markets.

Prior to joining SIA, Jeremiah served as Country Manager at a regional digital payments firm, where he oversaw the expansion of an inclusive digital payments offering in Uganda and other subsidiaries in Africa. He has also served as Digital Financial Services Business Manager at a FinTech and Mobile Money Regional Lead at a Telecommunication company — roles in which he designed and implemented a range of mobile financial products and services.

For the past three years while working from SIA Uganda's office, Jeremiah has supported the design of digital credit offerings for rural female smallholder farmers in Uganda. His work has also included supporting digital financial solutions providers’ scale into the livestock and dairy value chain. He has contributed to development of global toolkit publications on transitioning from cash to digital payments by implementing partners, as well as off-grid solar regulatory and policy enabling environment. 

Jeremiah holds a Masters in Business Administration, and Bachelors in Development Economics from Makerere University, Uganda. He has a certification in Inclusive, Instant and Interoperable Payment systems from Digital Frontiers Institute. He is an Alumnus of the U.S Professional Fellows program from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Jeremiah holds membership with Digital Frontier Association of Uganda and The Africa List, CDC.
