Wisdom Alorwuse, Lead for Africa

SIA’s Lead for Africa, Wisdom Alorwuse is a digital inclusion specialist with over nine years of experience in digital financial services, agricultural technology, branchless banking, business development, and information technology.

Wisdom started his career working for Kasapa Telecom and later joined AirtelTigo Money as a Mobile Money Agent Quality Manager, managing agent networks in Volta, Ghana and later in Accra. Embracing his passion for expanding access to mobile money, Wisdom served as the Team Leader at Tanager and as a Program Manager on several mobile money projects that expanded access to mobile money to rural agricultural communities chronically underserved by the finance sector. In this capacity, he has provided technical assistance to large and medium agribusinesses and aggregators to integrate mobile money into their payment schemes to smallholder farmers. He has also supported and led mobile money agent network development projects in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Wisdom has also served as the Resident Advisor in Zimbabwe on Econet’s Ecofarmer Input Procurement platform development and field outreach.

Wisdom has conducted in-country assessments to evaluate investment opportunities and the feasibility of launching or integrating mobile financial services and branchless banking services into rural development. He has also supported financial and non-financial institutions and mobile network operators with the design, implementation, and management of digital financial ecosystems more broadly in the agricultural sector in Ghana.

Wisdom holds an MBA in Operations and Project Management from UCAM University, Spain and a a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from University of Cape Coast. He also has a Project Management and Investment certification coupled with a certificate in Mobile Money Agents Acceleration from Helix Institute of Digital Finance in Kenya. He was the first Ghanaian to be awarded a certificate in Digital Finance from Tufts University under the Digital Frontiers Institute (DFI). Wisdom is based in Accra, Ghana.
